December TNT: Rex Ziak on Lewis and Clarks' Pacific Arrival

Join us for our December TNT presentation by historian Rex Ziak, who will unravel the dramatic and often misunderstood story of Lewis and Clark’s arrival at the Pacific Ocean in 1805. Drawing from the explorers’ own journals, Ziak will guide the audience through their thirty-day ordeal near the mouth of the Columbia River, highlighting the ten days the party was marooned on Tongue Point and their frequent forays between present-day Warrenton and the John Day River.

Rex Ziak, an acclaimed historian and Emmy-winning cinematographer, is best known for his groundbreaking work on the Lewis and Clark Expedition. His book In Full View transformed America’s understanding of the explorers’ final journey along the Columbia River and inspired the creation of the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park. Beyond history, Ziak co-founded OBON SOCIETY, a humanitarian effort returning World War II artifacts to families in Japan, blending scholarship, storytelling, and global outreach into a remarkable career.

The event is free and held at Fort George Brewery’s Lovell Showroom (14th & Duane, Astoria). Doors open at 6:00 p.m.; talk begins at 7:00 p.m. Food and beverages available. Minors welcome with an adult.
